OPERATION HOLIDAY

OPERATION HOLIDAY AND PAROLE RELEASE PACKAGES

The Virginia Juvenile Justice Association (VJJA), a statewide professional membership association, recently spearheaded a campaign entitled, "Operation Holiday". The group collected donations and appropriated more than $3000 to make the holiday season brighter for children who were away from their families during the holidays. Donations were made to juvenile correctional centers, detention homes and group homes throughout the state. Donated items included: stocking stuffers, board games, DVD movies, greeting cards, recreational equipment, and library books.
The group also created parole release packages for dissemination to children being released from juvenile correctional centers. Each package includes an alarm clock, a day planners, and assorted toiletries. Items have been packaged in plastic shoe boxes and will be donated to the Department of Juvenile’s Justice’s Division of Institutions.
